ORPHAN PLACEMENT TRANSITION SUPPORT

The Missionary Society through partnerships has been able to launch Orphan Placement Transition Support programs in a few nations of Africa including Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Tanzania; to place orphans primarily with church families and assisting the families financially for the first year. Orphans are placed into families and the families are assisted to overcome the initial expense of incorporating orphans into their homes. The financial support is just for the first year and decreases monthly over the year. Local church leaders have been distributing funds, monitoring the program, and reporting on the transitions. So far beneficiary SDB Conferences have been faithfully reporting the transition of children into new homes.

There is now the need to assist four orphans in Burundi ages 10, 8, 7 and 5, who recently lost their widowed mother. The children have been transplanted, but they need support to take root in their new household.

You can help eliminate orphans by supporting their integration into families. The cost to support each child for the year is $345.

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families…”- Psalm 68:5-6a (NIV)
