Following weeks of relentless rain and a recent cyclone, it is reported that at least 81 people have died in India. Two regions in the west (Gujarat and Rajasthan), as well as the eastern regions of Odisha and West Bengal were hit the hardest. We have SDB brethren in the eastern regions. Landslide in the eastern state of Manipur killed at least 20 persons, while four regions in Myanmar have been declared disaster zones.
The Missionary Society has received communication from Rev. Pau Haang Tombing, Chief coordinator of the SDB Group in Manipur saying SDBs there are suffering due to the floods. The deaths and sufferings have come from a range of problems including; landslides, walls collapsing, flooding, electrocution and drowning. Persons in the affected areas, including our SDB brethren are in need of our prayers and encouragement.
