As Michael Spearl and I were leaving from a recent visit to the Cebu City region of the Philippines, we saw leaders we had just been worshiping with joyfully pack into a minivan to deliver relief and the gospel to the typhoon ravaged areas to the north.
Philippines Conference leader, Al Paypa gave this update upon their return:
Greetings from Philippines. I would like to say thank you for the disaster relief fund the amount of $ 1,000 for the earthquake victim in Bohol and Cebu. I received it from MS director Bro. Clint when he is in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu last Nov. 6-10, 2013. It was so happened that In November 8 (Friday), the super typhoon Yolanda hit in part of Cebu province. We are just experience minor damage in Cebu and Lapu-Lapu City but in Northern part of Cebu, Leyte, Iloilo, Capiz were most damage and many died. Tacloban City was very most affected which more than 10,000 died and thousands were missing this data is just in Tacloban only. There are many places that have many died and millions were homeless and have nothing to find for food.
Three days after the Typhoon the money intended for bohol was use to buy for food and responded the immediate need of the typhoon victim. Until now there are some places who have not yet receive relief from our government. All churches are came together to extend help the victim.
I receive info from Sister Nene Indiola that our churches in Camotes Island was damage by typhoon. The church members were starving for food. They have no food to eat. The Cebu City send their help and I will also send help to buy rice on that place. I want to go to visit on that church affected by typhoon but there have no transportation available as of now because the pumpboat was damage and the weather not good. I will give you updates on that church when I will visited to them.
Tomorrow, I went to Leyte with some Pastors to extend our help and give counseling, prayer and encouragement to the survivor. Please pray for me that God will use me for God’s glory.
I’m praying that there are more good samaritan for the people who need help. Because of the huge damage of super typhoon that our government and donations came from other countries is not enough to cater the needs of the victim but all provision is from God. Please include us in your prayer. Our government not yet recover from 7.2 earthquake now another disaster happened in our country.
It is God’s way to open the door for evangelism and the people will turn around from their sin and turn to God.
Thanks your prayer and concern of our brethren in the Lord. Thank you and God bless.
