The SDB Missionary Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Berg as its full-time Director of Advancement and Operations beginning June 20, 2022. Miriam joins the staff of the Missionary Society to assume responsibilities for Bookkeeping, Branding, Fundraising, Operations, as well as some areas of Administration and Strategic Planning.
She has extensive experience working in various roles in Administration, Operations, and Advancement for other organizations. In addition, she has worked as a Professor and Lecturer at the University level, and has unquestionably been a most valuable asset to all her previous employers. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies and Linguistics from Houghton College, and a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Azusa Pacific University. She has studied overseas in Honduras and Tanzania. Her travels have also taken her to China, Jamaica and Zambia.
To the Missionary Society, Miriam also brings her passion for missions and a wealth of volunteer experience, both within and beyond the Seventh Day Baptist community, including working in her home state of Colorado to coordinate the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course, which teaches about the global movement that is awakening the Body of Christ to pursue the fulfillment of God’s global purpose within every people group for His glory. In a significantly expanded capacity, Miriam will fill the role previously played by Nadine Lawton, who is retiring after 17 years of dedicated and efficient service to the Missionary Society.
While the Missionary Society remains based in Rhode Island, Miriam will work remotely from her home in Colorado. Her home Church is the former Boulder SDB Church, now located in the Carbon Valley and called Frontier Church.
