Our SDB Brethren in East Africa are experiencing severe famine. They have been having it very difficult finding food daily to fend off starvation and death. The Society has sent some disaster relief funds for urgently needed food, but much more is needed.
An SDB leader in Tanzania wrote, “Again…rains also seem to have gone and no hope in sight as crops are dying in Farmlands. Kindly allow me, through you to appeal to the brethren in North America…” – Pastor R. Ryakitimbo (March 15). From Uganda, “We are hit by terrible famine in North Uganda…plants have dried up…Pray for us, in Uganda, especially members of our church (SDB).” – Pastor Nsubuga Danniel Lubutol (Feb 24). While Pastor Joseph Jada Wani of South Sudan said “The relief you (Missionary Society) sent was able to help the targeted vulnerable group but not all…May the lord almighty continue to strengthen you, the donors and bless all the believers in the service of our lord Jesus Christ in supporting your suffering brethren in south Sudan.” (April 7).
Please pray for people suffering throughout the region.
Financial Support large and small will go a long way in providing lifesaving meals and seeds for our brethren in East Africa.
“For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.’”- Deuteronomy 15:11
